How this works

Everything you type updates the receipt preview on the right in real time. Picking a region swaps in a currency symbol and a short note on what that region typically expects from a rent receipt. When it looks right, the print button opens your browser's print dialog with only the receipt on the page — no site header, footer, or form — so "Save as PDF" produces a clean, single document.

FAQ

Is a landlord legally required to give a rent receipt?
It depends on where the property is and how rent was paid. Many places require a receipt whenever rent is paid in cash, and some require one for any payment method on request. Pick your region above for a short note on what's typically expected — but check your local landlord-tenant law for anything binding, since rules vary by state, province, or country and this isn't legal advice.
Why does it ask for a balance due?
It's there for partial payments — if a tenant pays less than the full rent owed, the receipt can show what was paid today and what's still outstanding, which keeps both sides' records straight. Leave it at zero if this payment covers the rent in full.
How do I save this as a PDF instead of printing it?
Click "Print / Save as PDF," then choose "Save as PDF" (or "Microsoft Print to PDF") instead of a physical printer in the print dialog that opens — every modern browser and OS supports this without any extra software.
Can I keep a record of receipts I've issued?
This tool doesn't store anything — nothing you type is saved or sent anywhere, so each receipt only exists in your browser until you print or close the tab. For an ongoing paper trail, save each PDF with a consistent file name (like the tenant's name and the payment month) in a folder you control.
